ROOM FOR THOUGHT: EXPLORING SPACES FOR INVENTIVE PLAY

Please join us for a symposium celebrating the opening of our new
exhibition
"Invention at Play." The exhibition explores the rich and varied
connections between play and creative activity, and will be on display at
the National Museum of American History from July 19 through December
2002.
From the playground to the workshop, this afternoon discussion and
exhibition visit bring together a variety of perspectives on the role of
play and our environment in promoting creativity in both children and
adults. Investigate the relationship between play and the invention
process.
Explore various settings that enhance creativity, including informal
learning spaces such as museums, and creativity spaces used by inventors
and
corporations.
Please plan to see the Invention at Play exhibit between 1:00 and 2:00.
The
keynote will begin at 2:00.
