in the good ole US of A, well, New Jersey at least, we had History for one period (about 45 minutes) 5 days a week for three years. Freshman year was Western Civ (ancient history, religion, etc) Sophomore year was US History I and Junior year was US History II. Now that i think about it, we should have had world history and current history (a class on recent history, current events, their history, implications, etc)
We had a pretty good ciriculum (sp?). the problem was the teachers -- one of my teachers was so obsessed with the Civil War, that's all we did. We read Killer Angels, saw Glory, read about a million diaries... i didn't know anything but the civil war coming out of his class!
