before polishing your pieces, they should be cleaned first with a mixture of
equal amounts of water and methyl hydrate, applied with cotton swabs, if
necessary a mild detergeant can be added to cut any grease on the objects.

As for polishing - all polishes are abrasive! so you want to choose the
least abrasive polish you can. One option is a jewelers cloth (you can
usually buy these where ever they sell good silverwear), another recommended
option is Nevr-dull. You could also try "Twinkle" polish for copper/brass,
it is still abrasive, but less so then some other brands on the market.

After cleaning or polishing, give the items a coating of microcrystaline wax
to help extend the time between polishings.
