Is it though? Didn't Jefferson 200+ years ago write in the Declaration of
Indenpendence that we do have certain rights regardless of the laws that are
made? Couldn't this be considered to mean that there are overall rights and
wrongs in the world that exist independently of culture and context?

And isn't this an idea that Western philosophers have been debating about for
millenia?
