Thank you for your reply. We have decided that an enclosed and locking
cabinet is sufficient for the added level of security, so a several-ton
vault is no longer in the picture -- thank goodness. It's looking like
Delta cabinets after all. Thank you for the tip, though -- I'll file it
away for future reference.

Juliette,
Browning (the gun manufacturer) sells gun vaults and vault doors. Take a
look at this website address,
http://www.browning.com/products/catalog/safes/vault_door.htm, for
information. Also, if you are affiliated with some level of government,
you can get a discount off the suggested retail price.
Best of luck,
Tim

Hi all,
Our institution, a historic house museum, is looking to purchase or have
built some sort of vault for the storage of silver and other
environmentally
compatible valuables. It would go in our off-site storage facility. I
picture it either as a walk-in with a couple aisles and shelving along
center and outside, or as 2-3 freestanding cabinets with locking doors. We
would like the cabinets to provide an aadded level of security as well as
environmental control. We need a shelving capacity of approximately 150
square feet.
Questions: Does anyone have any experience in buying or designing such
enclosures? Any things I should take care to avoid? Any preference
between
custom-built walk-ins, and pre-fab modules? Any leads on good places to
order such things?
Many thanks in advance for your help,
