At our museum, we do not use contractions on labels. We do, however, use them on the audio guide as they do provide a more friendly feel. And, if that's what you want to achieve in your labels, contractions could be a good way to go. There should be some flexibility in writing styles so that you can effectively communicate the intended tone to your audience.

"That's" my two cents,
Amber

Personally, I would not use contractions.

Hi there everyone. I was wondering what your thoughts are on using
contractions ("we've") versus not using them ("we have") in an exhibit
label. The tone for this particular exhibit is supposed to be more friendly
and familiar. Do you ever use contractions in your the exhibit labels in
your museums?

thank you

Jean
