So, the list has become again about Indigo? Let's move on please... I've
re-read Audra's initial posting a couple of times and her tone is nowhere
near what Indigo is presenting!
As someone involved in the hiring process, I disagree with a couple of items
in indigo's postings: (1) Reasonable accommodations need to be provided for
the interview process, not just when an offer is made and (2) when a salary
history is requested, include it--this shows that you actually read the
advertisement and can follow instructions. Most managers with hiring
authority will look at the salary in the context of the overall
organizational budget and location.
Indigo's statement that "I have quite a number of friends who are, in fact,
HR attorneys," is just too much! Gee, I have quite a number of friends who
are, in fact, trauma surgeons, but I generally refrain from giving advice at
the trauma unit... (sorry Indigo, I couldn't pass up what is a personal peeve
of using friends to qualify one's expertise or experience in a subject.)
DISCLAIMER: This comment is not intended in any way to reflect negatively or
dismiss Indigo's qualifications to provide human resources advice or
commentary nor does it reflect negatively or dismiss Indigo's knowledge of
the subject acquired as a researcher/student/reader, etc. of legal and human
resources issues. It is merely intended to be a late Friday afternoon comment
on a personal pet peeve.
