Cecelia,
We just had a very successful children's fair in which several aspects of
storytelling were dealt with in creative ways: one was the children were
given paper and craypas and encouraged to do "creative drawing" that went
with their own or someone else's story...this were very abstract and had to
do with the energy and emotion of the story, not actual depictions of the
characters....the kids loved it; we also created dolls out of paper towel
cardboard rolls, yarn, fabric etc...that depicted the stories about the
children or stories the children told themselves....again it was more
abstract and the resulting "doll" was a "picture" of its story.
Good luck.
