Lynne,

To make your city, state, zip automatic, you would not use a script. When
you are defining your fields, select the options button, then check the
auto-enter data box, and type your data.

You can of course also make pop-up menus, if you happen to have more than
one city or zip code (this is done under the field format option in layout
mode).

I use scripts to automate certain tasks, such as printing out confirmations
or membership cards. My main screen will have a button that says something
like "print confirmation", then I set up a script for that button that
commands it to go to the confirmation layout, print the record, then return
to my original layout. We have a large volunteer staff, so this has been
very valuable for me in simplifying things.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any other questions.

Robyne

PS- I'm on a Mac, and have every version of filemaker under the sun. I love
it! I've yet to learn the details of connecting a database to my website,
but will teach myself the next free moment I get, ha ha!
