Hi,

I happen to be sitting here with a couple other
re-enactors. One of whom is holding a copy of a
typical Norse sword from the Viking period. ("Norse is
a ethnicity, Viking is a vocation," someone once said.
<G>) This sword is a good example of an "Average"
size. It measures 29" long blade, with another 8" for
the pommel, guard and grip. The blade is graduated,
being 2" wide near the quillons, going down to 11/2" at
the point. About 1/8" thick. Weight is about 2.5 lbs.

I am told that they range about 4 inches on either
side of this length and can go another lb. heavier.
Hope that helps.
