I have worked with a number of homeschooling groups - sometimes with great success and other times not. Museums can be a terrific resource for them, providing information on art, sciences, etc. that they don't normally have and also provide socialization time for the homeschoolers
(they are often very quiet and shy groups).
One thing I have learned is that many homeschool groups are not in the public schools for a reason. Once, as part of a program we were using a tribal art gallery (Pre-Columbian, African, etc.) I turned around after giving the kids some searching instructions to find the mothers
praying for their souls. I was terribly embarassed that I had not checked on the raison d'etre for the group. Since coming the the midwest I find that most of the homeschoolers I work with are for religious reasons and I have to be very honest with them about what we are going to
see and do before-hand (and in fact, some of these groups will check very carefully with me about nudity, etc.) But I often find that discussions I would have with a normal school group may not work with homeschoolers.
