Museum and Planetarium Product Developer
Excellent opportunity to become a part of the dynamic Space Telescope
Science Institute (STScI) team! STScI is responsible for conducting and
coordinating the science operations of the Hubble Space Telescope, which
has brought us never before seen pictures and information about the
universe. Science museums and planetariums are exciting venues for
communicating Hubble’s discoveries to public audiences. Thus, in support
of the Office of Public Outreach (OPO), we are seeking a Museum and
Planetarium Product Developer to create a diverse range of
astronomically themed products and services for the science center,
museum, and planetarium communities. The Product Developer is expected
to both develop materials and products on his/her own and work with
skilled professionals (scientists, artists, animators, web developers)
within the OPO and STScI to create more complex products.
Candidates should possess a B.S. degree in astronomy, education or
related field with a minimum of three years experience developing
educational media products (such as interactive exhibits, planetarium
programs, and/or video) for a public audience, preferably in a museum or
planetarium setting. In addition, candidates must have excellent
communication skills with a general knowledge of astronomy and a
demonstrated ability to work with digital media production tools.
STScI, located on Johns Hopkins Homewood University Campus, offers an
excellent benefit package, which includes twenty-four vacation days per
year, relocation assistance, and competitive salaries. The minimum
salary is $39,825; however, STScI’s pay is commensurate to the education
level and years of experience. Resumes received by March 15, 2002 will
receive full consideration. Qualified candidates are requested to mail
resume and salary history to: Space Telescope Science Institute, ATTN:
Human Resources, 3700 San Martin Drive, Baltimore, MD 21218 or e-mail
to: [log in to unmask] EOE/M/F/D/V
