MEET JULIETTE ROGERS

I wonder if we all could use some mentoring at some
point -- or is it just good advice?

My problem has been finding people in my discipline
(anthropology) who are sympathetic to museum work (as
opposed to wanting to make more academics).

The two anthro museums I have worked in in the past
are directed by academics-at-heart, and the lower
staff is less understanding and reflective of the
career trajectory of the "Modern Museum Professional"
(grad school, etc.).

I think of my own frustration in trying to get advice
on how to strategize for the career I want, and how I
have sometimes had to settle for less than an ideal
for me job and accepted an easier one just to get
employed, but I am beyond the level of the students
mentioned in the letter.

I guess this is a vague email, but it's something I
have been trying to figure out for years!
