The website for the Society of American Archivists is
www.archivists.org. This group has a subsection of
museum archivists with their own listserv, newsletter,
and website. They are in the process of publishing a
new how-to-do-it book.

Many museum's have established retention policies.
One I have used extensively (at a previous place of
employment) was from a museum in Houston (The Houston
Museum of Art?). The policiy had been written by a
fellow in archival administration who spent a year on
the project. Most of the retention policies I've seen
are from art museums but others must exist. The
Smithsonian's various archives each have their own
policies which might be interesting to compare.

Finally, post a request to the Archives & Archivists
listserv--it's as big and active as this one and
sharing policies is one of its biggest ongoing
discussions.
