Dear Colleague:

The Diversity Coalition (DivCo) Auction is one of the most successful
events assisting diverse museum professionals. Now entering its fourth
year, the silent auction has raised over $14,000 in scholarships to support
diverse professionals to attend AAM’s Annual Meeting and MuseumExpo and
professional development seminars. The Auction is a way for you, as a
member of DivCo, to become involved with DivCo to help diversify the AAM
membership and the museum field.

For the 2002 Annual Meeting and MuseumExpo2002 in Dallas, Texas, we are
pleased to announce DivCo’s first live auction that will take place at the
DivCo Evening Event, “Big Hair at Southfork,” Sunday, May 12. The second-
fastest auctioneer in the country, “Colonel” Bill Billingsley of the
Smithsonian Institution, will auction items valued at $200 or more. Other
items will be available at the silent-auction during MuseumExpo2002.

The DivCo Auction depends on contributions from generous people,
businesses, and museums, all of whom are AAM constituents. Both DivCo and
AAM’s Board greatly appreciate their generosity.

We are writing to invite you to support the AAM Diversity Initiative by
donating an item that highlights your museum, your region, or any of your
hidden talents. For more information on the auction or to make a donation,
please visit the AAM Annual Meeting web site at http://www.aam-
us.org/2002annualmeeting/ and click on “Auctions.”

Thank you for your consideration and support.

Sincerely,
Susan Secakuku
