AND/OR

Someone who has an understanding of Operations and

Someone who can provide real-world guidance about what

MEET ROBYNE MILES

I started my museum career at 13 as a volunteer,
sweeping floors and being generally dissatisfied with
how the Volunteer Manager treated us. The Director,
however, was lovely, and through her I was inspired.

I graduated from Indiana University, where I interned
in the fabulous IU Art Museum. From there I became a
manager in a children's museum, did a little
fundraising in between, and am now going on my fourth
year as Director of Operations & Volunteers for a
small science center. I also attended my first major
conference (ASTC) this past year, and was on a panel.
I enjoyed it immensely.

I love my job because I get to do a little of
everything, but there are plenty of times I need
advice from someone older, wiser, and NOT attached to
our little institution.

I'd also really like to go back for my Masters, etc.
but I don't want to stop working, so I'd love to hear
from someone who has had a similar experience.

I've only been on the listserv now for a couple of
weeks, and although the amount of email is quite
overwhelming, its been fabulously informative!
