SEE AMERICA DAY – Sunday, November 11, 2001 – Veterans Day

Concept:

Offer free or very low rates to stimulate Americans to get out and
SeeAmerica. Just 60 days from September 11th, this day is traditionally a
very slow travel day, thus an opportunity to build on a known occasion and
turn it into a significant travel day.

How to Participate:

The National Parks and Forests have already announced that they will not
charge entrance fees on this day in celebration of America. Every city in
America can do the same: offer free transportation within the city; free
entrances to museums and monuments or highly discounted rates. Hotels can
offer great weekend rates; airlines can offer a great weekend fare, car
rental companies can do the same. Any and every destination can participate
in SeeAmerica day in honor of our veterans and those who are serving us
today.

Restaurants can offer a “SeeAmerica” menu or free appetizer/dessert, theme
parks can offer highly discounted rates, perhaps a free pass for anyone who
is a veteran and/or in the military and/or employed by the fire or police
departments, or a special SeeAmerica pass for families.

TIA Role:

Marketing Announcement:

TIA is working on a pictorial SeeAmerica Day email announcement that
contains images of the U.S., many sites and faces, to the words of the
song, “this land is your land, this land is our land…” It ends with the
words: “Its your country. See it. SeeAmerica Day. Sunday, November 11,
2001. Veterans Day. Each organization can customize the end of the email
with your logo and a direct link to your web site and any offers that you
have tied to SeeAmerica day/weekend. The email can be sent to all your
frequency members, customers, business associates, employees, etc.

By using the email, the entire industry communicates to the country at one
time, and its FREE. This is a great way to leverage our promotions and get
America moving again.

SeeAmerica.org will post any offers with a direct link to your sites, so
let us know what you’re plans are.

We will also do a major media announcement after we send each of you the
email announcement.

For more information, please visit the Travel Industry Association of
America Web site www.tia.org.
