David,
Does your computer program allow various levels of security? If so, you
may want to set a security clearance that will keep certain information
hidden from those without such clearance. Just a thought.

Thank you all for such great information. I have, of
course, been working with the tribal elders, who
simply want to put the word "sacred" (in their
language, of course) immediately prior to the
description of the object. However, there are some
cultural prohibitions restricting women and non-tribal
members from seeing this information. Cross
referencing via a type of code may work, but in the
end, we all have to see the objects and any records
associated with it -- especially to meet specific
NAGPRA requirements -- for instance, proving that we
have a facility that will best preserve the object.
We're working out a solution, but it remains a sticky
wicket nonetheless.
Thanks again -- any more ideas are heartily welcomed!
David
