Hello out there:
I was wondering if some of you out there may have a situation similar to
mine, and would be willing to share insights. Here's the deal:
I became Curator of Collections at my institution 6 months ago, and
inherited a large collections processing/cataloging backlog. Most of the
collections I refer to have the initial Deed of Gift paperwork taken care
of, but nothing else. They are in boxes marked by donor or Accession # and
on shelves. No marking, cataloging, or rehousing has been done to the large
majority. My task: to come up with a plan of action for tackling this
monumental amount of stuff and putting it away by Nomenclature category. My
question: do any of you have such plans (i.e. a Collections Strategic Plan
that deals with a backlog issue or a section of a Collections Management
Policy that addresses this issue) that you would be willing to share with
me? Any and all responses would be greatly appreciated. If you'd like to
respond to me directly, email [log in to unmask]

Thank you for your help!
