Curatorial Research Assistant/Exhibition Development
Temporary full time or part time available immediately

The Jewish Museum of Maryland is seeking a creative, thorough, detail-
oriented researcher who will assist in developing a major exhibition on
Jewish life in Maryland's small towns. Assignments include working with the
Project Director to locate relevant images and items for exhibition, both
in institutional collections and from community sources; interviewing oral
history respondents; preparing objects for photography and conservation;
preparing reports and forms for the Project Director and exhibit designer;
and data entry of items into exhibition database.

Research assistant must be able to work effectively as part of a team,
handle objects with care, work with detailed numbering systems, and keep
clear and accurate records. Strong writing skills, communication skills,
inter-personal skills required.  Previous collections and exhibit
experience preferred, with knowledge of statewide image and object
collections particularly helpful.  Graduate-level course work in exhibit
development and collections management desired.   In-state travel required;
must have own transportation.

Exhibit to open late April, 2002.  Hourly fees based on experience.
