You might also be interested to know that the National Museum of American
History, Smithsonian Institution, has some Gypsy artifacts and an archival
collection dealing with Gypsies (primarily, but not exclusively) in the
United States.  The National Museum of Natural History also has photographs,
etc.  For the archival material, go to http://www.siris.si.edu, click on
"Archives and Manuscripts," and search on "gypsies."
