Beth,
It would help to know more specifically what you are looking for. There
are hundreds of museums that are municipally owned or operated. The AAM
directory lists the governing authority of listed museums and you could
get lots and lots of potential names that way.
To those already sent, I would add the San Jose Historical Museum, which
is owned by the City and operated by a 501(c)(3) under a very
comprehensive contract.
