2002 MetLife Foundation and Association of Children’s Museums’
Promising Practice Award Call for Entries

Washington, D.C. - MetLife Foundation and Association of Children’s Museums
are now accepting applications for the 2002 Promising Practice Award. The
Promising Practice
award honors innovative management and programming practices in children’s
museums. As in previous years, the Promising Practice Award emphasizes the
theme of ACM’s annual InterActivity conference, which in 2002 is "Children’s
Museums Celebrate Shared Values, Many Voices." The 2002 Promising Practice
Award will honor practices that illustrate the unique and diverse ways in
which children’s museums advance some of the common values we share as a
field – to preserve childhood, to promote lifelong learning through play,
and to build community.

Funded by the MetLife Foundation, the award competition is open to ACM
children’s museum members in the United States. A total of $20,000 will be
presented to the winning museum(s) at InterActivity 2002 in Ottawa. A
maximum of three awards will be given. All U.S. ACM museum members are
encouraged to apply. There is no application fee. For information on
membership or the application process, please contact the ACM office at
202/898-1080. Applications are available in print or on ACM’s Web site
(www.childrensmuseums.org) and must be postmarked by February 11, 2002.
