I think there is a definite difference between a "reflection" of recent
events put in proper perspective, and a "historical review" of events that
have had a period of time (not sure exactly how long that is) to discern a
true cause-and-effect analysis.  The former could be considered a sort of
boosterism for the moment, something that stands out amidst many current
events or activities as noteworthy (and somehow defining) for our immediate
actions, while the other should be something that historians seek to provide
clues to the advancement (or decline) of our civilization.  Clearly
scholarship and a balanced viewpoint is more apt to occur with the latter.
