In our recent reorganization at The Tech Museum of Innovation we merged the
Galleries & Programs and Education Groups into the Learning Experience
Group. The Education Group had focused on teacher professional development,
providing lab experiences for field trips, and building partnerships with
schools. Galleries & Programs staffed the galleries, presented demos and
activities on the floor, and offered special programs like workshops,
lectures and camps. By bringing our two groups together, we've been able to
build a much more efficient and effective structure. Instead of one set of
staff for labs and another for the floor - we now have teams who do both so
that all our experiences are better aligned and integrated. We're still
settling into our new structure. Still, it seems a great improvement over
the previous one.
