ANNOUNCES
The Position of
MUSEUM CURATOR
Salary Range: $13.06 to $19.63 (Step Range 39-54)
Available for consideration by all State Career Service and
Probationary Employees. This position is located at Anasazi State
Park in Boulder, Utah replacing Bill Latady who has resigned.
Incumbent must live within 30 minutes of Anasazi State Park in order
to respond to museum related emergencies. [THIS IS A PUBLIC
RECRUITMENT].
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Responsible for acquiring, cataloging, and storing all incoming and
existing artifacts in the collection at Anasazi State Park Museum;
establishes and follows schedules for routine inspections of
collections, obtains funds for collection care and management,
scientific research and special projects through grant applications;
provides technical expertise in the development of exhibits and
interpretive materials; coordinates maintenance and excavation of
on-site ruins; provides research and interpretation on collections,
exhibits, and the region; writes technical reports and articles
regarding research activities and findings; coordinates group visitor
activities; conducts lectures and group tours of the museum; works in
cooperation with other agencies, supervises interns, volunteers and
seasonal staff involved in curation duties; and performs other duties
as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Skills in the following areas: anthropology and/or archaeology, or
museum management; Utah prehistory and the methods and procedures for
preservation; pertinent scientific research techniques; specimen
identification, preservation and interpretation; public relations;
grant writing; public programs and /or museum registration methods;
coordination of group visitor activities; supervision of subordinate
personnel; must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
Preference may be given to individuals with education and/or
experience in Southwestern Archaeology.
