"CREATING HISTORIANS AT BEVERLY HIGH SCHOOL"
LECTURE AT THE MASSACHUSETTS ARCHIVES
Secretary of the Commonwealth William Francis Galvin announced today the
first talk in the Massachusetts Archives and Commonwealth Museum's fall
lecture series for K-12 teachers. "Creating Historians at Beverly High
School" is the subject of W. Dean Eastman's and Thomas F. Scully's
presentation Saturday, September 15, 2001, at 10:30 a.m. at the
Massachusetts Archives on Columbia Point in Dorchester. (220 Morrissey
Boulevard, Boston, MA 02125.)
History and the thrill of learning through primary sources have captivated
Beverly High students. Dean and Thomas will share information about their
programs, which get students out of bed and to school before most students
have had their breakfasts.
Dean Eastman teaches history and social science at Beverly High School. He
has received many awards for outstanding teaching and has been featured in
the news media for his work.
Thomas Scully is director of community services and library director in
Beverly, Massachusetts. He is active in issues involving libraries as well
as education.
The program is free and open to the public. Parking is free, and the
building is handicapped accessible. For additional information or a
brochure listing future lectures call 617-727-2816 or see our website at
