I work as the Curator of the Collection for the University of South Florida
Contemporary Art Museum. I am currently working on a review of the
Collection Management Guidelines for the museum. Although the collection
tracks legal status through our University Foundation, the collection is
housed at CAM. The museum is authorized by the Foundation to serve as the
managing agent. Of special interest and/or concern is the review of policy
with regard to the management of acquisitions on a University wide basis.

As the authorized agent for management of the collection the Museum feels
that ultimately all University acquisitions should be made in accordance
with the policies associated with the Collection Management Guidelines. As
such authority for decisions relating to all University acquisitions should
be delineated in that document.

I would like to hear from any other University Museums that have guidelines
in place which detail management of Collections (especially with regard to
acquisitions) on a University wide basis. I would be happy to share our
guidelines and policies. Please respond off list with that request.
