The Chesapeake & Ohio Canal running through MD dates from the 1830s and they
do some costumed interpretation at the locks near Great Falls. I think they
are administered by the National Park Service. For a long term display like
you are planning, I would probably make authentic clothing reproductions,
rather than order pre-fab clothes from Townsend.
