Executive Director

The Friends of the Douglass Theatre, Inc. seeks an Executive Director for
the historic Douglass Theatre.  The theatre, built in 1921 as a movie house
and vaudeville stage for African-Americans, serves all segments of the
community as a multi-purpose facility for performances, films, lectures and
meetings.  The Executive Director is responsible for the daily operation of
the theatre, which includes the oversight of personnel, budgets, programming
and facilities.  The desirable candidate will hold a bachelor's degree in
management or marketing, along with four (4) years of successful experience
in theatre or non-profit management.  Other training or experience, if
evaluated as equivalent, may qualify an applicant for the position.  The
Executive Director is expected to have knowledge of fundraising, performing
arts, and motion picture programming.  The salary is competitive, and a
benefits package is supplied.  No telephone calls. Resumes will be accepted

Responsibilities: The Executive Director is directly responsible for the
daily operation of the Douglass Theatre, which includes the management of
staff, budgets, programming and facilities.  The Director is also
responsible for the implementation of policies set forth by the Theatre's
Board of Directors.  Further, the Executive Director, in tandem with the
Board of Directors, is responsible for the development of initiatives to
generate revenue through fundraisers, grants, membership drives and capital
campaigns.  And, the Executive Director is responsible for marketing the
Douglass Theatre as an historic site that has the capability to be both
functionally and practically used by its various publics.
