Our team of designers and educators are currently in the process of
developing a programming space and "café area" for a new museum.
The programming space is intended as an interactive multi-use environment
for museum theater programs, as well as programs that show film clips, to
encourage facilitated discussion. It will be used for both school groups
and general visitors throughout the day.
The café will be a place sit down at tables that will allow participants to
informally discuss experiences and issues that may have come up in the
exhibitions with fellow museum visitors. In addition, visitors may input
information and ideas at computer stations (at the tables or stations
around the café), retrieve items they have input throughout their visit or
comments left by previous visitors, as well as search for additional
information related to the exhibition.
These environments are both about half way through the total exhibition
experience.
Questions:
1. I'm hoping that some of you may have some similar spaces I should
investigate/visit and/or may have some thoughts to share as we develop
these spaces.
2. If you have spaces like this at your institution, please let me know. I
have a series of specific questions I'd like to ask you. =)
I appreciate your time,
Felicia
