Deb,
Contact the Galveston (TX) Historical Society. They can put you in touch
with the people who restored and operate The Tall Ship Elisa. It is a
working tall ship that is used as a museum when in port in Galveston. They
spent years restoring the ship and now use it for educational purposes,
including teaching kids how to sail on the open sea.

Subject: Maritime/Historic Ships Association
Hello all!!
I have recently started volunteering with the National Maritime History
Foundation that is seeking to build a replica of the historic schooner, the
USS Enterprise. I'm helping them with making connections within the museum
community and with their educational programs.
First off, there is a national or international organization for historic
tall ships, maritime museums or other types of navy museums?
Secondly, any good sources for grants aimed specifically at maritime
history, working with under-represented populations, or inner city schools?
The school programs for the organization are going to start at in the DC
public school system in SE.
Lastly, any good advice about getting a tall ship built and creating a
museum/educational experience around it?
Thanks in advance!!
Deb
