Assistant Curator of Education:  The Arizona State Museum (ASM), University
of Arizona, Tucson, AZ, seeks a motivated professional to initiate and
implement a comprehensive educational program that embodies principles of
museum education within the context of a state/university museum for the
benefit of a broad statewide audience.  Building on existing educational
programs, the successful candidate will involve museum staff, community
members, educators and others in short-and-long-term planning to develop and
implement educational programs and strategies to attract new audiences.
Responsibilities include:  development of innovative educational materials,
strategies, activities and technologies for learners of all ages;
supervision, training and evaluation of education section staff, volunteers,
and students; development and implementation of educational initiatives such
as the Smithsonian Affiliates Program for targeted communities to promote
use of the museum as an educational and cultural resource; preparation of
grant applications and other funding proposals in support of educational
programs; and supervision of the Arizona State Museum-Tucson Unified School
District Partnership.  The mission of the Arizona State Museum is to enhance
public understanding and appreciation of the culture history of Arizona and
the surrounding region by collecting, preserving, researching and
interpreting objects and information with a special focus on indigenous
peoples.

Assistant Curator is a university rank equivalent to assistant professor.
As an academic professional, the incumbent is a member of the general
faculty of the University of Arizona and is eligible for continuing
status-peer-reviewed evaluation process similar to tenure.  The Assistant
Curator of Education is a member of the Public Programs division and reports
to the director of the museum.  Minimum qualifications include: a master’s
degree in museum studies, education, anthropology or related field; three
years experience in museum education; supervisory experience; and proven
grant writing experience.  To apply, please submit a cover letter, resume,
