Announcement for Deputy Director Position

Deputy Director for Operations - for South Carolina's "Piedmont" museums -
Museum of York County, Historic Brattonsville, and the Historical
Center of York County - governed by the York County Culture and Heritage
Commission (CHC.)  Already one of South Carolina's largest and
fastest growing cultural institutions, CHC is in the midst of a $50 million
expansion program to build a major new regional museum, significantly
enlarge interpretation at existing 720-acre living history site, and
renovate 50,000 square foot historical/cultural center.  Together, these
projects will create the "Gateway to Southern Heritage" located in upstate
South Carolina within the southern crescent of the Charlotte,
North Carolina metropolitan region with a population of 1.5 million.  The
Deputy Director for Operations is responsible for overall management
of collection, exhibition, and education program activities and daily
operations for CHC sites.  The Deputy will assist the Director in managing
the development and implementation of the capital expansion projects
including new core exhibitions.  Minimum five years in museum
management, computer literacy, and budgeting experience is required.  The
successful candidate will be an excellent communicator and
team player capable of simultaneously managing and coordinating varied tasks
at multiple locations.  Experience in capital projects, major
exhibition development, and familiarity with contemporary interpretive
methods is highly desired.  Salary is negotiable depending on
qualifications and experience and employees enjoy excellent benefits
