               The AASLH “Not Your Ordinary Workshop
               Series” Summer Workshops Will Begin in
               June

The summer series of the “Not Your Ordinary Workshop Series” will start
in June with the Historic House Museum Issues and Operations workshop in
St. Paul, Minnesota from June 21-23, 2001 at the Minnesota Historical
Society's Alexander Ramsey House. These workshops include a carefully
designed two-and-a-half day schedule of interactive sessions, a team of
experienced faculty, and a notebook of curriculum materials that will
assist your learning for many months following the workshop or
institute.  Our host sites offer a variety of cultural attractions, warm
hospitality and stimulating learning environments that are often used as
case studies or learning laboratories.

So check the listings below and find the topic and location best for

a quality learning experience!


HISTORIC HOUSE MUSEUM ISSUES AND OPERATIONS
June 21-23, 2001: Minnesota Historical Society, Ramsey House, St. Paul,
MN
Faculty: George McDaniel and Max van Balgooy
Participants will be: new directors, new and mid-career professionals,
and dedicated volunteers
Fee and Deadline: $250 for AASLH members by May 21, 2001
Hotel: Radisson City Center (800-333-3000- $99/night)

LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE FOR THE SECOND IN COMMAND
June 28-30, 2001: National Museum of American History, Washington, DC
Faculty: Harold and Susan Skramstad
Participants will be: members of top management teams at state and
private institutions
Fee and Deadline: $295 for AASLH members by May 28, 2001
Hotel: Tabard Inn (202-785-1277- $85-125/night)

COLLECTIONS MANAGEMENT AND PRACTICES ***CLOSED***
July 19-21, 2001: Shelburne Museum, Shelburne, VT
Faculty: Vicki Berger and Rick Kerschner
Participants will be: new professionals and volunteers with
responsibility for collections
Fee and Deadline: $250 for AASLH members by June 19, 2001

INTERPRETATION ISSUES AND STRATEGIES
July 26-28, 2001: Southern Oregon Historical Society, Medford, OR
Faculty: Tom Woods and Candace Matelic
Participants will be: new and mid-career professionals and dedicated
volunteers
Fee and Deadline: $250 for AASLH members by June 26, 2001
Hotel: Red Lion Inn, Medford (800-RED-LION- $78/night)
