The John Michael Kohler Arts Center is seeking an Arts/Industry Coordinator. This position is responsible for the administration of the nationally acclaimed residency program for professional artists in the Kohler Company Pottery and Foundry; education programming by Arts/Industry artists in residence; facilitating production for community activities involving the Kohler Co. facilities; and related publications, installations, and exhibitions.
JMKAC's renowned 25-year-old Arts/Industry program, unique in this country, annually brings 16-22 outstanding artists from throughout the world for 8- to 26-week residencies in an industrial pottery, iron/brass foundry, and enamel shop in order to create bodies of work and public commissions impossible in their studios. Artists receive free technical help, space, use of equipment, materials, housing, transportation, photographic services, plus a biweekly stipend. The works they create are their own. They, in turn, affect hundreds of industrial employees through daily contact and 8,000+ adults and children through tours and educational programs. Each artist donates one day per month for educational programming throughout the region. Qualified candidates will have strong communication and organizational skills and the ability to work with artists and a broad public. Preference will be given to candidates with an MFA in ceramics or cast metals.
