Audra and Indigo are certainly on to something with the "what is the
interviewer looking for" thought.

I was once told by a museum director with whom I had applied for a job that
he "just didn't need another strong woman" on his staff.  This was many
months after the job had been filled, and I took it as a compliment.

If you do not get an interview, or the job after an interview, it may be
because of all sorts of factors beyond your control.  Don't take it
personally, and press on to the next thing.
