Hi!

One of the problems using B-72 on porous materials such as earthenware is that it can migrate into the material, leaving only a small amount of adhesive at the join. One way of minimising this is to put adhesive on the edges to be joined, press them together, and then pull them apart. This creates a seal, so that when you apply the adhesive for the second time, it is not absorbed so easily into the earthenware, but remains on the surface so that it can do job it was intended to do - ie stick the pieces together, not consolidate the areas of the ceramic around the break!

If this doesn't work, you may need to use a stronger adhesive. There are conservation standard epoxy resins which are used on glass and other materials. Of course, these are much trickier to use and a lot more difficult to reverse if necessary. If B-72 does not work, you may need to get specialist advice to see if this option would be compatible with the material you're dealing with.

Hope this helps, Heather
