Crystal,
Actually, museums have a great need for financial knowledge. Historically,
the typical museum professional is strictly liberal arts, however, museums
have a great need for business knowledge. Some Universities, such as Drexel
in Philadelphia, provide Arts Management degrees, which is a combination of
art history and business. A financial and business background is becoming
increasingly important, especially as government funding is reduced and
museum professionals need the business savvy to find other sources, and it
is especially wonderful to have financial types who understand the art
world. I hope this provides a bit of encouragement!
