Director of Education

The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum seeks a proven museum professional to
provide the educational vision and leadership for the institution’s broad
range of educational programs. The director serves as the lead person in
developing and maintaining relationships with educators in a broad range of
institutions, implements an outcome-based assessment of the programs,
coordinates the museum’s educational publications program, and oversees the
ongoing growth of programs for the museum’s audiences. Responsibilities also
include management of a department that includes a docent and festival
coordinator, sailing instructor, several contract positions and serving on
the museum’s exhibition development teams. S/he should have at least five
years of museum or education experience, a M.A. in a humanities discipline,
a successful track record of grant-writing, and creative, participatory
