Exhibits Coordinator, Full-time

POSITION/JOB STATUS: Exhibits Coordinator, full-time
REPORTS TO: Museum Division Director
HOURS: Typically -- Monday through Friday - 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Flexibility required due to some weekends, evenings, and holidays depending
upon departmental need, Duty Officer rotation, or other hours as required of
an exempt staff member.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in architecture, design, museum studies, or
related field. Experience in project management - including budgeting,
scheduling, preparation of requests for proposal, bid documents, contracts,
and reading blueprints, scale drawings, and gallery layouts. Museum
background required, especially experience in exhibit production. Knowledge
of professional museum standards for care and handling of objects on exhibit
is essential. Design, fabrication, and/or installation skills preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES: This position coordinates the History Center's in-house
exhibit design, fabrication, and installation by both internal staff and
various outside contractors. Coordinate layout and installation of outside
traveling exhibits from other institutions. Maintain standards of high
quality in a cost-effective manner. Supervise Exhibits Department which is
responsible for continued maintenance of exhibits.
