Corporate Development Manager is a full-time salaried employee of a
charitable organization and receives the same standard employee benefits as
all other employees. The Manager is responsible for raising funds through
collaborative corporate ventures in alignment with the purpose of the
Children’s Museum of Orange County and the vision and mission of Pretend
City.
Job Description:
The Corporate Development Manager designs the fund-raising program specific
to the corporate community, focusing on corporate exhibit sponsorships,
partnerships, general donations and participation in keeping with the
organization’s priorities.
This position is entrepreneurial in nature and has two key functions, a
creative function and a sales function.
The creative function focuses on (a) managing the Pretend City sponsorship
strategy which enables corporate community involvement for a variety of
terms, (b) creating collaborative sponsorship “packages” that build long
term relationships with appropriate corporations, and (c) identifying
sponsorship, donor and partnership opportunities.
The sales function focuses on (a) implementing the sponsorship strategy, (b)
researching and identifying potential corporate sponsors/partners, (c)
developing and presenting proposals, (d) negotiating contracts, (e) managing
account relationships.
Qualifications:
· Applicant must posses a bachelor’s degree
· Track record of identifying, cultivating and soliciting
sponsorships/partnerships
· Experience planning, preparing and anticipating issues associated with
corporate solicitation
· Ability to manage multi-tasks, be a team player, exercise independent and
sound judgment
· Deadline and detail oriented
· Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
· Cultural sensitivity for working in a multicultural environment
· Experience with proposal preparation and presentations
· Strong organizational skills
· Self starter and entrepreneurial – excited about a start-up
· Confident, friendly and diplomatic
· Interest in youth and education
· Strong oral/written communication skills
· Flexible schedule (may require limited travel to prospect meetings)
· Computer skills required: fluent Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook,
Excel, e-mail, internet
Prefer:
· Capital Campaign Experience
· Blackbaud Software Experience
Duties:
The Manager is a member of the Development Team. Direction is taken from the
Director of Development with guidelines and approvals set by the Board of
Directors or Capital Campaign Cabinet.
The Manager works with the education department, exhibit design and program
department/committee(s) ensuring the sponsored exhibits/programs/events
support a collaborative relationship. The Manager will also work with the
capital campaign cabinet through any and all campaigns to generate a portion
of the capital through corporate sponsorships and corporate donations.
· Continually identify activities and areas to sponsor
· Develop strategic short and long term planning with measurable goals and
objectives
· Develop presentation materials
· Write policies and procedures, have them approved and see that they are
followed
· Prepare budgets and supervise expenses
· Identify committees, assign functions and manage them
· Coordinate fund raising efforts with other employees, committees and
consultants including:
- capital campaign consultant
- architect/museum services/project manager on exhibits, programming and
donor recognition
- fund raising events
· Responsible for agenda/minutes of meetings
· Correspondence
· Assist with board member development needs where they apply to corporate
relations/funding
· Research funding sources, build relationships with prospective/current
sponsors/partners
· Set-up, confirm appointments for Founders/Board members to meet prospects
· Maintain filing system
· Design and implement a sponsor tracking and recognition systems
· Research and data management and reporting through Blackbaud and Crystal
