Please proceed with caution when combining databases from different
functions of the museum. Any and all records involving fundraising
(membership, donors, etc) should be considered high security, as should
certain levels of information regarding your collections- including
certain legal document regarding the acquisitions process and in some
cases some donors would wish to remain anon.;
If your system allows for collections to be broadcast on the web, and it
is linked to your fundraising records, the possibility exists for a
"cracked door" in which an unauthorized person or persons may gain
access to sensitive material. If you remember the occasional hacker
breaks into companies and threatens to broadcast millions of credit card
numbers or medical records, etc.
