Hello again,

A big thank you to everyone who replied to my query about Needs Assessment
Surveys. You were so helpful that I thought I would send out another
request for information!

This May, the Programme for Museum Development in Africa will be holding a
workshop to discuss comprehensive strategies for meeting the needs of
children as a special audience in African museums. Participants will
examine existing children's programmes and evaluate the strengths and
weaknesses of current activities. They will also propose possible
programmes for museums to ensure that 1) children actually visit museums and
2) that when they do, the experience is an enriching one. Our organization
will then disseminate the results of the workshop to museums all over Africa
and use it to co-ordinate children's programming on a regional basis.

What I am wondering is: can any of you recommend manuals or resource
materials on creating children's programmes? Are there any case studies or
survey reports on this subject? Even if you just have an anecdotal story
about a children's activity that went really well, or really badly, I would
love to hear it. I hope to use all this information in a reference folder
for our participants. Please reply to the List or off-List at

Thanks,

Laura M.
