For those of you at museums that serve the needs of children and families,
do you have written accident handling and reporting procedures that you
would be willing to share? I wonder to what extent you allow your staff to
treat minor injuries. Does staff apply topical medication in the event of
an injury? Does staff ever make the decision to call for emergency
treatment (such as an ambulance, etc.)?

We currently offer program, like camps, in which we care for children
without their adult guardians. We also host children during field trips and
weekend programs with adult guardians. Do you follow the same accident
procedures for both situations? Have your accident procedures been reviewed
by lawyers?Insurance companies? Any information you are willing to share
would be great.

Thank you,
Jessica Ruskin
Program Director
