Masonite is composed of wood and adhesives, so has off-gassing problems from both components. I suppose it would depend on the type of adhesives that are used to determine just how bad it is, but I would not put it in direct contact with your collections. What do you mean by "near"? What is the purpose of the Masonite? I would put a barrier between any kind of wood and your collections.

Hi. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about masonite. Is it dangerous
to have near collections? I would appreciate any response.
