You should consider the CHIN Collections Management Software Review which
contains the results of evaluations of collections management software
packages. Over twenty systems have been reviewed and written up. It's
apparently now available as a print publication (I have only myself had a
copy of the first print version) and via online subscription.

While it's aimed as a product review, the criteria used in the review
provide an excellent guideline for a museum automation functional needs
analysis.
