Thomas H. O'Connor Presents "Civil War Massachusetts"
at the Commonwealth Museum
March 3, 2001, 10:30

William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth, announced recently
that Thomas H. O'Connor, noted author and Boston College professor, will
present a lecture on "Civil War Massachusetts" at the Commonwealth Museum,
Saturday, March 3, 2001, at 10:30 am. The lecture will focus on the home
front and will include a display of period documents and artifacts from the
Massachusetts Archives collections.

A South Boston native, O'Connor is the author of such critically acclaimed
books as Boston Catholics (1998), Civil War Boston (1997), The Boston Irish:
A Political History (1995), and Boston A to Z (2000).

This is the latest lecture in a monthly series on Massachusetts history. The
Commonwealth Museum is located in the Massachusetts Archives building on
Columbia Point in the Dorchester section of Boston. Admission and parking
are free, and the building is handicapped accessible. For additional
