Smithsonian Center for Education and Museum Studies

The Smithsonian Institution seeks an experienced educator with museum experience to direct the center and provide Smithsonian-wide leadership in education endeavors.

The director will
· Influence educational improvements throughout the country by using Smithsonian resources 
· Expand the Smithsonian's educational mission through increased use of the Web
· Foster partnerships between schools and museums
· Make museum resources integral to the educational process

The successful applicant will have proven leadership in managing education programs with national impact; extensive experience in fund raising and strategic planning for a large organization; and demonstrated knowledge of educational theory in schools and museums, current information on how people learn, effective museum learning strategies, and methods of evaluation.
