Lynn Norris,
Here is the information about the places that might be possibilities for an
international sculpture partner.
      Mino Washi Museum
Jun Kawano, Director (he speaks a little English!)
1851-3 Warabi
Mino City, Gifu prefecture
Japan
tel 81-575-34-8111, fax 81-575-34-8280
This is a beautiful museum in central Japan which has three floors of
exhibits and workshop area for hand papermaking. They could work with you
on a project involving sculpture with handmade paper (washi in Japan). The
contact for the Paper Art Village Project where I was an artist in residence
for three months in 1999 does not speak any English, but the address is
Shin Murase
Mino Paper Art Village Project
Mino Culture Hall
Mino City, Gifu prefecture, Japan
tel 81-575-35-0522, fax 82-575-35-0144
This residence program invites 6 international artists each year to come and
make art with Japanese paper - in Mino it is kozo fiber paper. We worked at
the Mino Washi Museum and had an exhibition of works we made during the
residency at the Museum. Maybe it would work to have some artists from the
Project come to your Museum....again this would be sculpture with handmade
paper.

The Duntog Foundation in Baguio City, Philippines is also connected with
hand papermaking. It is not a Museum but a non-profit educational
foundation for research and education in the art of handmade paper. I don't
know if this would work but the director there is
Michael Parsons
Duntog Foundation
301 Ambuklao Road
Baguio City 2600, Philippines
